Last week we held a powhiri to welcome Matua Les Hoerara as the Director of Te Hikoi, an Alternative Education school being set up on Bairds Road near MIT. Our Tumuaki, Mrs Leanne Webb, is a member of the Management Committee, and the school is scheduled to open in Term 4. The school's purpose is to help Year 9, 10 & 11 students who are at risk of, or already disengaged, remain in education and to support their reintegration and return to mainstream school.
