Introduction

Aorere College is a culturally diverse co-educational secondary school situated in Auckland, New Zealand, with a student population of about 1,660 consisting of over 25 ethnicities. Both domestic and international students enjoy learning about different cultures and believe that this multicultural focus prepares them well for life in the global community.

We have a small number of international students which means each student has a unique and intimate experience, with dedicated staff to guide them. Past students agree studying abroad gives you amazing experiences and provides opportunities for significant social, cultural and personal growth.

International Programmes

Our programs are flexible - they can be as short as a week, offering a taste of life in New Zealand, or up to 5 years providing the opportunity to achieve NCEA and a rich source of life-changing memories.

Aorere College specialises in short term cultural programs that cater to those who want to experience a taste of New Zealand culture and improve their English, these can be tailored to suit your needs or the needs of your group. The program includes a cultural trip to Rotorua where students have an authentic introduction to Maori culture - songs, dances, games, food and the "Haka" Maori war dance. They also experience New Zealand nature by seeing bubbling hot springs, mud pools, a geyser, lakes, native bush and a Tuatara and Kiwi house. They enjoy beautiful views on the Rotorua Skyline Gondola and have fun riding the "Luge".

Buddies

We have a fantastic buddy system where each international student is placed with an Aorere student who helps them find their way around the school and introduces them to teachers and fellow students.

Our buddy system is very popular with our international students; it helps them feel welcome, practice their English and make new friends. This also allows a smoother integration into our school and more opportunity to talk with our local students. This might be in the classroom, socially, on the sporting field, or in cultural areas. International students have a lot to add to our school so we need them to be talking to our students and as they do, their English will develop even more.

Courses

Aorere College offers a wide choice of academic subjects, sports, music and cultural activities, international students are encouraged to integrate into all aspects of school life in the same manner as our domestic students.

We provide an excellent English Language Learning (ELL) program for ESOL students from non-English-speaking backgrounds. We have reception classes for students who require an intensive ESOL course. These programs address the specific language needs of ESOL students and are needs-based. We assess each student's understanding and place them in an appropriate class that meets their English learning needs and requirements This is provided as part of the international program.

School reviews application. If student is accepted, school issues Offer of Place and Invoice
Pay all fees (payment information can be found on invoice)
School issues Offer of Place and Receipt
Submit student visa application to NZ immigration
Once student visa is granted - book travel
Send copy of visa to school and inform of arrival details
School confirms accommodation (where necessary)
Airport meet and greet and transfer to accommodation
